Italy, rich in art and culture with a pleasant climate, has drawn many artists from northern countries over the centuries. In the 17th century, several Dutch and Flemish artists, including Jan Both, Adam Pynacker, and Jan Asselijn, went to Italy to paint landscapes, a genre popular since 1600. They joined artistic communities, the most famous being Rome's Bentvueghels. This rare exhibition of a Luxembourg private collection showcases works by artists influenced by the Italian style, like the Utrecht painter Cornelis van Poelenburgh.
