Surrounded by the scenographer Éric Ruf and the costume designer Christian Lacroix, with whom he staged Triomphe de l'amour, shown in 2019 at the Grand Théâtre, Denis Podalydès returns to Luxembourg with the opera Falstaff by Giuseppe Verdi. Composed in 1893, Falstaff is Verdi's last opera. A final comedy in which he focuses on the grotesque figure of Falstaff, which he borrows from Shakespeare. It is this endearing man, at once a crook and troublemaker, but capable of the most frank affections, that Denis Podalydès wants to reveal in all his contradictions. A sumptuous production, which ingeniously mixes theatre and opera. Antonello Allemandi conducts the Luxembourg Philharmonic and the Lille Opera Choir.
