Conference "The Assassinated Governor"
By Jean-Michel BODELET, historian and journalist at the newspaper L’Avenir, as part of the conferences of the Institut Archéologique du Luxembourg in collaboration with the State Archives in Arlon. On January 26, 1901, gunshots disturbed the peace at the provincial palace of Arlon. Quickly, a rumor became reality: governor Édouard Orban de Xivry has been assassinated in his office. The perpetrator took his own life. Over 120 years after these events, Jean-Michel BODELET revisits this assassination. He will discuss the young governor's personality, his political career, and the profile of his assassin.
Good to know
Doors open at 7:45 p.m. Although the conference is free, registration is required.
