My mother, God and Sylvie Vartan (LuxFilmFest)
Official Selection - Out of Competition.
Ken SCOTT, 102 min, 2025 - France, Canada. Born in 1963 into a large, loving family, Roland has a clubfoot that prevents him from standing upright, and his mother, Esther, does not want to recognize it. Despite formal medical advice, Esther is convinced that her son will walk like other children and refuses to have him fitted with an orthopedic device. She prays to all the saints for a miracle. Deceptions and miracles punctuate little Roland's early years.
Adapted from Roland Perez's novel "My Mother, God and Sylvie Vartan", Ken Scott's film marries a mother's passion for her child with the intensity and fantasy of scenes that tell the story of a singular and extremely touching destiny.
