Andrea Petković is not only known to the general public as a world-class tennis player. With her first book "Zwischen Ruhm und Ehre liegt die Nacht", she also emerged as a new voice in the literary scene. In her current book, she describes the great break in her life: leaving professional sports. She addresses the existential questions we all face when dealing with major life changes. Who are we when we give up what we've dedicated our entire lives to? How do we reinvent ourselves? And most importantly, how do we know it's time to make this life change? Very poetically and concisely, "Zeit, sich aus dem Staub zu machen" recounts a life event that feels like the difficult withdrawal from an addiction, a painful farewell to a daily life one hasn't known otherwise, or the joyful beginning of a new life outside the constraints of professional sports. A step that, for Andrea Petković, is exemplary of the big goodbyes and transformations one must face in life.
