After the success of Breaking the Waves (2019), Myriam Muller, associate artist at the Théâtres de la Ville, is undertaking a new adaptation of a film script: Elena, based on the screenplay by Oleg Neguine and Andreï Zviaguintsev.
The story revolves around its eponymous character: Elena is the second wife of Vladimir, a wealthy retiree, who met her ten years earlier when he was hospitalized and she was his nurse. Their union is based on a relationship of servility and an exchange of services. Elena acts as a wife, a maid, a cook for Vladimir, who in turn offers her stability and a life without material worries. But when Elena's son, Frank, finds himself in financial difficulties, Vladimir ignores his pleas. Elena's grandson, Sacha, failing at school, hangs out with thugs. Frank encourages Elena to ask her wealthy husband for money to enroll Sacha in a private school, but Vladimir refuses. Elena then concocts a plan to find the money despite everything.
