Boogie - curatorial experiment
A curatorial experiment
“While searching for a title for this project, we were suddenly hooked on the word ‘boogie’. The word has multiple meanings. From the apparent musical reference to one of Mondrian’s last works, to Dragon Ball Super, a late nineteenth-century spelling of a ball of mucus in the nose, an Argentinian cartoon character used as a parody of the far right, the title of a 1997 Paul Thomas Anderson film, a recent exhibition by artist Alexis Blake, and probably more to discover and explore…
Boogie, is alive, complex and evolving. Some connotations more pleasant than others. It is about recognizing its various facets, following its rhythm and embracing its complexity, its resonances and dissonances. Let us not be fooled, we will try not to be passive.
Boogie will thrive as long as we engage. Its rhythm is graphic, its tone round in the mouth. Our exploration of Boogie attempts to spark new perspectives on curatorial experimentation. We see it as a method to breathe unique spontaneity into our work. Thus, the exhibition spaces on the ground floor will be transformed into a laboratory for curatorial and artistic experimentation that the Boogie method will articulate.
