The Metz Libraries and Mediatheques present their new virtual exhibition "All Aboard!" about the history of Metz Station and the beginnings of railway tourism. Through a selection of documents, plans, books, postcards, and posters preserved in their heritage collections, discover the past of this remarkable building in the city. Metz Station has been recognized three times as "France's Most Beautiful Station." However, its history also includes unfinished projects and various stations preceding the current one. It played a significant role in Metz's history because the extensive work leading to its construction restructured not only the "imperial" district but also the entire City of Metz. The beginnings of the railway saw the establishment of new lifestyles and leisure activities, and a real railway tourism developed. This virtual exhibition was designed for the European Heritage Days 2024 and the national theme "Heritage of routes, networks, and connections."
