First South African artist to sign with the Blue Note label,
Nduduzo Makhathini claims the influence of McCoy Tyner and his compatriot Abdullah Ibrahim. However, he does not hesitate to detach himself from them to offer his highly personal style, which draws on the cultural and historical roots of his native country. Fascinated by rituals, the pianist transforms each of his concerts into a musical and spiritual dialogue open to the world.
