In May 1940 Miersch is occupied by German Wehrmacht troops. When three months later a civil administration is established in this country, it floods the entire country with prohibitions and ordinances. The first resistance organizations are founded and stand up against the occupier. When the Gauleiter announced the forced recruitment in 1942, there was a strike that affected large parts of the country. Then there are arrests and a mass shooting in the SS-Sonderlager in Hinzert (D). Among the victims are also two sailors. The Luxembourg youth are forced into the Reichsarbeitsdienst. After that, the boys have to go to the front and the girls have to go to military service. Others dive under. In February 1944, a mass shooting occurred again in Hinzert, during which another Mierscher was executed. Four months later, the Allies land in Normandy. And eleven weeks later, on September 10, 1944, American troops marched into Miersch. Miersch is "Finally free!"
