Bilbo Baggins embarks on a quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the clutches of the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo joins a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey takes them through the wild, across lands teeming with goblins, orcs, deadly wargs, giant spiders, shapeshifters, and sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the east and in the desolate lands of the Lonely Mountain, they must first escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever… Gollum. Alone with Gollum on the shores of an underground lake, modest Bilbo Baggins discovers not only the depths of cunning and courage that surprise him, but also takes possession of Gollum's "precious" ring, which holds unexpected and useful qualities… A simple gold ring is tied to the fate of Middle-earth, without Bilbo yet realizing…
