I invite you starting the new year with this novel suggested by a member (thank you Alcinda 😉). It is a contemporary look at Angola 🇦🇴 .
It tells the story of the country's evolution through several stories happening side by side, but the main stage is the six-story building in the middle of Luanda, the capital. Each family in this building tries to survive in its own way with the means at its disposal. There is nostalgia, joy and sorrow in this country that has endured years of civil war. Ndalu de Almeida, is a writer born in Angola who uses the pen name Ondjaki. In 2013 he was awarded the José Saramago Prize (a prize for potuguese literature) for his novel Os Transparentes. The original version of the book is in Portuguese, but it has also been translated into French and English. Here are some places or websites where you can find it.
Where does it take place?
