The death of her child pushes a woman to seek a miracle that will give her back her life. To do this, she simply needs to find, in the course of a day, a truly happy person. But each encounter, however promising, ends in disappointment. Highly applauded at its premiere at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, the one-act opera Picture a day like this composed by George Benjamin, a major figure in today's music, on an original text by Martin Crimp, is an initiatory fable on human nature and self-discovery, a universal tale with changing colors where the flow of music follows that of life. Corinna Niemeyer, assistant to Sir George Benjamin at the premiere of the opera, conducts the Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra.
