Cracks of Potential

  • exhibition

In response to the Art That Grows open call, three projects were selected to present different perspectives on the theme of seeds. The artists participated in a three-week production residency at neimënster, where they developed their personal reflections on the Graines exhibition.

Cracks of Potential by Franco-British artist Victor Guerin is an evocative sculptural installation exploring the interaction between urban degradation and natural resilience. Utilizing fragmented industrial materials such as asphalt and concrete as base elements, the project turns these symbols of human development into fertile grounds for seed germination. The work captures the contradiction between destruction and creation, highlighting nature's ability to thrive even in the most inhospitable environments. The centerpiece of the installation is a dynamic floor composition comprising cracked surfaces, where delicate sprouts emerge through fractures, juxtaposing the fragility of life against the weight of urban debris. Fragments displayed on walls further enhance this dialogue, presented as scientific specimens to explore broader ecological and philosophical themes of regeneration.
