Generations Forum – The Second World War in Luxembourg
The Second World War in Luxembourg – a past that does not fade away. How does your family talk about the time of National Socialism? Were there any persecuted individuals from National Socialism, such as concentration camp survivors or former prison inmates, in your family? Or, were your grandparents involved in one of the numerous Nazi organizations? Do you want to learn more about it? What did you experience yourself as a child during that time? What do we think about it today, and how can we ensure that these experiences are not forgotten?
Today, we commemorate the 80th anniversary of liberation from National Socialism. This period and its horrific consequences are still vivid in the memory of many Luxembourgers. Some directly witnessed it, having seen their parents arrested; others know it from the accounts of their parents or grandparents about the cruelty and inhumanity of that time. We aim to share this experiential treasure in a joint exchange of experiences and thoughts and pass it on to younger generations. We also want to honor the numerous victims of National Socialism in Luxembourg and keep their memory alive.
