An impressive fortification system, almost entirely disappeared since the Treaty of London in 1867, defended Kirchberg and protected the fortress city. Engineer Vauban, who led the siege works in 1684, was tasked with developing a project for strengthening the fortress.
Good to know
Two-hour guided tours are offered by the museum. Participants must wear appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes, and bring a flashlight.
