However, an antibody has been discovered in this species that could prove very useful against covid-19 viruses type. It's hard to give you the full briefing of the scientists, so to avoid gabbing too much, we'll explain in a few lines here, why the llama is our greatest asset in the fight against covid-19 😲 ?
Thanks to our Belgian neighbours who made this discovery. It was at the Flemish Institute for Biotechnology Research (UGent), with the team of Xavier Staelens 🥼, that the antibody neutralizing the virus was discovered. But this is nothing new, because already in 2018 the scientists were interested in our beloved camelids, and more specifically in their immune system, which according to them, is the key to developing a revolutionary vaccine 💉 against the flu (flu, covid-19...Did you make the connection?).
And while we're on the subject of llama... have you heard about the Llama best man?

A few months ago, in the United States, a man brought a llama in a tuxedo to his sister's wedding, the aim was to keep the promise he had made with her 5 years earlier. In view of the current situation in the country, our dear Shocky 🦙 (the llama of course) could become the new Captain America 🦸? With his super antibodies he could undo the evil (the covid-19) and free America from this scourge. Yes yes it is not only men who can become heroes, animals too. Against all odds, this time our hero could be a llama?
