THE INGREDIENTS:
Philly Cheesesteak Charles Sandwich style:
- 1 Steak
- 2/3 yellow onions
- 4 tablespoons of honey
- 2/3 slices of provolone
- ½ rustic baguette
- Ketchup
- A few bunches of lamb's lettuce
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper
THE STEPS:
1. Onion time: Peel and slice 1 or 2 yellow onions, during this time preheat your oven to 160°. Once done, heat the pan over medium heat with a drizzle of olive oil, the pan is hot? Great! Now add the onions and fry them.
2. Take out your baguette: While the onions are cooking, take your rustic baguette and cut it in half lengthwise, you really need to have 2 separate slices of bread (top and bottom part of the bread). Put some ketchup on both sides!
3. The return of the onions: As soon as your onions are golden brown, add honey (4 spoons should be enough). Your onions should be caramelized by now, put them aside for now.
4. A little greenery: On the top of the bread, put a few bunches of lamb's lettuce.
5. The steak enters the arena: With the pan used previously for the onions, you will sear your steak on both sides. Good? Is it cooked? OK, so you can put your meat on a cutting board and start slicing.
6. Assembly and HOP in the oven! Now you take the bottom part of your bread, soaked in ketchup, pour the onions on top, then over the already cut meat, and finally, you put 1 or 2 slices of provolone on top. Bake in the oven until the cheese melts.
7. The perfect marriage: Now you put the 2 slices of bread together, and you can enjoy your Philly Cheesesteak!

SUPER TIPS FROM CHEFS
- How many onions exactly? 2 small ones or a big one, it's always a matter of size!
- 'If you want to avoid crying because of the onions, have someone else do it for you'... thank you François 🤣
- There's good treat for everyone, the best alternatives:
- If you're not a fan of onion, just use honey to keep it sweet.
- Kombucha can be substituted for honey...
- The steak can be substituted by ham, and for vegetarians, big mushrooms (to be sautéed in a pan with oil).
- No provolone? Get some county!
- Do not put the salad in the oven
- It is advisable to use the onion pan for the steak so that the meat is soaked in the sweet taste of the onions, so avoid washing it beforehand.
- It is not necessary to add salt or pepper.
